GUSTS #1 - Abstract Friesland landscape in winter whites and lilac tones
GUSTS #1 - Abstract Friesland landscape in winter whites and lilac tones
Size: 31cm H x 72cm W x 4cm D
Framing: Stretched and framed in a Obeche wood tray
The Story: I was lucky to spend the winter of 2022 in Friesland, Netherlands. The lively weather patterns across open skies and sleepy land are captured in the abstract landscapes Gusts #1 and Gusts #2 .
The work is stretched over a frame and sits in a wooden tray allowing the viewer to directly delve in the composition, marks and textures.
Composition: Merino wool, dyed linen and natural flax fibres, silk threads and fabrics. Silk georgette and cotton muslin base layers.
Process: The traditional wet felting technique uses water, soapsuds and agitation to interlock loose fibers to form a stable and strong structure. I work in fine layers and trap textile elements between the layers to create textures and light effects.
Care Instructions: As with all fine art I recommend not to place the artwork in direct sunlight, extremes of temperature or high humidity. As the artwork is not protected by glass, it can be lightly brushed with a soft paintbrush to remove the dust, taking great care not to disturb the surface.
Shipping: Shipping to UK included. Please message me for International courier costs
